You survived your birth, but it doesn’t feel over. Let’s process what happened, so you can begin to heal.

Therapy for Birth Trauma

You might be hearing “at least you’re both okay”...

But you don’t feel okay. Your body still holds the tension, and your mind replays what happened over and over, especially at night.

You might find yourself avoiding the topic altogether because it feels like no one really understands – or they shut it down with, “But your baby’s healthy!”

Birth trauma is real, and you deserve space to process it. Healing is possible, especially when you don’t have to do it alone.

What is birth trauma?

Birth trauma isn’t defined by how your birth looked on paper. It’s defined by how it felt in your body. You might have experienced:

  • A sudden emergency, NICU stay, or loss of control

  • Feeling ignored, dismissed, or coerced during birth

  • Medical interventions that weren’t fully explained or consented to

  • Being separated from your baby after birth

  • Intense fear for your life or your child’s

  • Physical injury to you or your baby

Even if others say “that’s just how birth goes,” your experience matters. If you’re still carrying the weight of it, you deserve support.

Common signs of birth trauma:

– Flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive memories

– Panic or physical symptoms when reminded of birth

– Hypervigilance or difficulty sleeping

– Guilt, shame, or self-blame about how things went

– Feelings of disconnection from your own body

– Feelings of disconnection from your baby

– Avoiding medical appointments or future pregnancies

– Feeling “stuck” in your recovery or dismissed by others

If any of this sounds familiar, it doesn’t mean you’re broken—it means your nervous system is still trying to process a deeply impactful event.
